An almost derelict Brockhampton Court was acquired by Dr. Christopher Allen and Mrs Allen in 1996, and has undergone a complete refurbishment and expansion to create the first class nursing home it is today.
Dr. Allen, now retired, was a local GP, based in the nearby village of Fownhope. Today, Dr Allen, works closely with the team at Brockhampton Court to ensure the nursing home runs smoothly, often visiting with his two Norfolk Terriers – Button and Ruby, who are extremely popular with the home’s residents.
Since 1998, Brockhampton Court Nursing Home has been managed and run by our Matron – Joanne Parker – a registered nurse. Under Matron’s leadership, the team at Brockhamton Court remain dedicated to providing nursing care of a high standard combined with a warm and friendly living environment, all within the impressive surroundings of a historically significant house and its stunning ten acre gardens.
Brockhampton Court has over 80 members of staff , over the years Matron has developed a loyal, capable and caring team, with around one-quarter of her team working at Brockhampton for ten or more years. Evidently happy in their work, her team’s dedication and commitment shines through, to create the happy and caring atmosphere that permeates Brockhampton Court, something you will experience for yourself when you visit.
Matron firmly believes that well trained, happy and content staff are essential to create a happy and caring environment for residents. This approach was formally recognised in 2007 when we received the Investors in People Award, the industry recognised accolade for good people management. The success of this approach is also borne out in our extremely low staff turnover rates at Brockhampton Court, where over 25% of the team have worked at the home for ten or more years.
Brockhampton Court is a nursing home with at least one nurse on duty all day and all night experienced in general health nursing. The in-house nursing team are supported by Dr Hearne and Dr Wood from Fownhope Medical Centre, a few miles away.
Of our team of carer’s 80% have already passed NVQ 2 or 3, the nationally recognised qualification designed for individuals working as care assistants, with the remaining team members working towards accreditation. Two of our senior carers also have NVQ level 4 and 5 in Social Care.
