We raised a fantastic amount of money with the Easter Raffle, a massive £241.90 which will be split between activities and the gardening team. A big thank you to everyone who took part. A special thank you to Sarah’s mum who donated the amazing double chocolate Easter cake which raised £32 and to Sally for making Easter cupcakes which were all snapped up within an hour.
The Easter Bonnet Competition was also very popular after the parade and voting, it was decided that Peggy was the Winner, with Vanessa coming a very close second.
We pride ourselves in maintaining variety in the activities and events we hold for our Residents, and our recent visit from Zoolab is probably the most unusual visit we’ve ever had.
The gaint African snail was of great interest to everyone, Vanessa loved the rats and Jean was keen to hold the snake. The Money raised from the Easter raffle gave us the opportunity to book Zoolab as an extra activity for April. Staff members and their children joined in with the visit and it was a great success and certificates were issued, so hopefully they will be returning soon. Good job done activity team!!!
During National Gardening week 30th April – 6th May 2018 we are encouraging all gardeners to share their love of gardening. The activity team have plans for new planting outside the conservatory and the gardening club has restarted this week, every Friday morning at 11.30 in the conservatory. Please come and join us and share your ideas.
As a result, from the residents meeting held last month, it was agreed it would be a nice addition to the tables to have separate menu holders on each table, so everyone could read the days menu. These menus are also put on tables for family or visitors that dine with us and feedback has been very positive.
In January and February’s newsletter we announced that Sally’s shortbread that can be purchased on the front desk, was raising money for Kingscaple Primary School for new books to go in their new library. I am pleased to announce that we have raised £200 so far, for the school.
